Please read below for our important safety protocols and requirements that are part of our effort to keep staff and volunteers safe and to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

YOUR VOLUNTEER SHIFT:

Please do not bring unregistered volunteers with you - to help us maintain social distancing within the warehouse, only confirmed volunteers will be allowed in.

Our staff will be thoroughly sanitizing and disinfecting the facility before your shift begins, we want to ensure they have ample time to do so. You will be asked about your symptoms (see below).

Sanitize your hands as you enter the building.  Hand Sanitizer will be available at the door and throughout the warehouse.

All volunteers must wear a mask for the duration of their shift. Click here for information on how to properly wear a mask.

We encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle. We do not have water bottles, but you will be able to refill your bottles at our water stations.

Eat before your shift.  Regrettably, no eating is allowed in the Giving Factory.

For your safety, you will be working either with product that had been newly purchased or donated and quarantined for at least 72 hours prior to your shift.

The Giving Factory is located at 4141 W. George St. Chicago IL 60641.  We have 33 parking spaces in front of our building that are first come, first serve. Note that our parking lot is sectioned off from a large shipping and receiving complex. Please do not drive beyond the concrete barricades separating our lot from the rest of the complex.

Cradles to Crayons has wheelchair accessibility and can provide reasonable accommodations for volunteers who might need it.

PRIOR TO YOUR VOLUNTEER SHIFT:

If any of the below situations apply to you, please postpone your shift.  We will ask you about these again at your arrival.

(ii)                Exposed to a person with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
(iii)               Experiencing symptoms of illness such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
(iv)      Traveled to any of the states listed in the Chicago Travel Order.

Please consider bringing donations with you during your volunteer visit. For more information regarding items we accept, click here.

The Giving Factory is a warehouse environment and it is not climate-controlled. Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothing you do not mind getting dirty.
